I am the director of productions for the non profit organization: The Everglades Wildlife Alliance whose mission is to track invasive species in the Florida Everglades and monitor how they are disrupting and destroying the environment; paying specific attention to the abundance of wildlife that call
South Florida home.

Our Vision:

Using social media and other platforms, we will create and distribute public awareness projects. These projects will draw attention to the need for an increase in the number of eradication and/or management programs needed to protect the native wildlife of the Florida Everglades.

Our Goal:

To establish a broad media brand where the general public will learn to appreciate the Everglades, the native animals that live there and the events that take place that effect both. The growing alliance will also seek partnerships with educational institutions to introduce to it's students the importance for continued action to preserve the native wildlife in the Everglades for years to come.

Invasive species are everywhere; in fact there are over 2 dozen in the Everglades alone!  We'll be deploying investigators and special teams into the swamp (myself included) to get a first hand look at the damage being done.  Initially we're looking into the full on epidemic known nationally as "The Python War" - Aptly named.  There shouldn't be any Pythons or giant constrictor in the everglades, but were introduced to the population approximately 2 decades ago.  With no natural enemies in the area they are now the apex predator of the swamp with estimates over 100,000 and growing!

Additionally, we're now finding Rock Pythons & Anacondas the last few years.  Wildlife populations are being decimated and with dozens of endangered species locally... this situation is extreme!  It's especially troubling because the Everglades have also been overrun with dozens of invasive species as well.

The war for native wildlife survival in the Everglades is taking place on many fronts. The most consistent threat to the everglades is still the danger of loss of habitat from urban expansion. Vast areas of land have continued to be lost to “development”, to the point where protected areas represent only half of the original everglades.  Short of this catastrophe, there are three more indirect challenges that can accelerate decline even as “restoration” continues. These are the mismanagement of water distribution, the decline of water quality and the continued appearance and expansion of invasive species. (Friends of the Everglades)
